Aurora Reservoir was opened in the early '90s on the
southeast side of Denver. It is a "no wake" lake so sail boats and wind
surfers have a haven from personal water craft. Used for day sailing by members of
the fleet.

Cherry Creek Reservoir |
Located southeast of Denver close to I-25 and
I-225, this lake is usually used for some day sailing. Fleet 61 holds its Craig Hospital Fun Day for patients of the well known brain &
spinal injury hospital.
A nice beach is found on the west side of the lake close to the boat ramps. On weekends the lake reaches its maximum boat capacity, so get there early. |

Flaming
Gorge |
Flaming Gorge is a Nation Recreation
Area and a 91 mile canyon reservoir which crosses the Colorado and
Wyoming borders on the Green River. It made its inaugural splash
in 2002 as Utah's regatta venue.
The area is quite remote with primitive
camping, low camping/use fees and a casual atmosphere. If going
for a few days, take a mountain bike!

Glendo Reservoir |
The traditional home of the One Particular Regatta
run by the Casper, WY Fleet 156. The lake shore is variable from
cliffs to sand. In 2004 the regatta moved to Water's Point on the west side
of the lake because beach camping is no longer allowed on Sandy Beach.
From Denver, go north on I-25 through
Cheyenne, WY and continue until Exit 111 at Glendo. At the first
intersection in town, turn left (north), continue for a mile or two,
turn right at the park entrance (and air field).

Day Regatta is now a fun event Typically the Island View Campground is
used, though in 2003 the Camp Site of La Laja was used - 3 campgrounds
past the dam.
In the town of Chama (14 miles from the lake), checkout Viva Vera's Mexican restaurant on the south side of town on the east side

Jackson Lake |
Located northeast of Denver
off I-76, this state park is also a bird sanctuary with many trees
lining the shore. The Sandpiper Campground now offers the easiest
access to the beach because the shore of the Pelican campground has been lined with large rocks to reduce erosion. The campsites
have tables & fire rings. Modern restrooms include showers. The marina has a
small general store for wood
& ice. |

Lake
McConaughy |
Located about 30 miles inside Nebraska from the
Colorado border, about a 3.5-4 hour drive from Denver or Fort Collins. Lake
McConaughy is the largest lake used by Fleet 61, and possibly Division 5.
Amazingly, the shore is beautiful white sand!
The lake is 2-4 miles wide and historically 14-18 miles long.
Since the year 2000, lower precipitation levels and a required increase in
outflows to downstream wetlands has lowered the lake level. Still,
this is the largest lake we sail.
The fleet camps on the sand at the water's edge
on the North side below the Lone Eagle campground (hot showers and restrooms),
west of Theis Bay. 4WD is a must if venturing off the hard sand.
Hotels and camping pads are available around the lake.
From Denver, take I-76 northeast out of Denver. I-76 merges with I-80 inside the Nebraska
border. Exit at the Ogallala, NE. Travel north
on state highway 61 through Ogallala, follow the signs to the
lake (it will take approx. 20 minutes to reach the Dam). Go across the
dam and use the map to find the Lone Eagle campground..

| Union Reservoir |
Union Reservoir
is a smaller no-wake lake near Longmont, CO. We've been working
with the lake management and now have a sandy beach launching area.
This lake is close by for day sailing. A couple of regattas will be held there in
